TERRAZZO

Terrazzo has been used as a flooring product for hundreds of years. Terrazzo tiles have stood the test of time and are used extensively in locations such as supermarkets, train stations, airports and shopping centres. Terrazzo tiles have earned their enviable reputation due to their combination of durability, ease of maintenance, aesthetic appeal and performance.

A terrazzo tile is a composite of natural marble chippings set in a matrix of cement with a colour pigment added to it. Customers can choose a vast range of different colour tiles or request bespoke tiles by using various combinations of the different pigments and aggregates that are available. The Terrazzo tile is usually fixed onto a concrete substrate with a semi-dry cement sand screed with the tiles and bedding being laid at the same time. Tiles are flood grouted, ground and polished on site for a smooth, seamless and monolithic look making them the ideal flooring for a wide range of foot and heavy traffic environments.

The standard sized tile is 300 x 300 x 28mm although other non-standard sizes can be produced. Pre-cast Terrazzo can be formed to form skirtings, column bases and staircases. Terrazzo tiles are designed to last the lifetime of the building and it’s longevity and cost effectiveness have made it the number 1 choice for supermarkets in the UK for over 40 years.

Q Flooring Systems Ltd is totally independent, not tied to any manufacturer and is therefore able to offer it’s customers the advantage of unbiased advice in terrazzo tile selection.
