Barr Construction recently finished a complete fit-out of the Tesco Metro store on Byers Road in Glasgow and chose Q Flooring Systems to install the Flowcrete Terrosso resin flooring system.

The 520m² store comprised of old vinyl sheet flooring of which many areas had lifted and been repaired giving the floor an unsightly appearance in areas. As the store is situated in one of the busiest thoroughfares in Glasgow’s west end with a high student population from the nearby Glasgow University it has a particularly high footfall.

The store closed on a Sunday at 4pm and was fully de-merchandised , fridge cases were disconnected and removed from site along with all the shelving and checkouts. The suspended ceiling was then reinstated and re-sprayed. Q Flooring Systems were then handed the store to commence their works at 8am on Tuesday. The vinyl sheet flooring was removed using a tile stripping machine along with the latex which was up to 8mm thick in places. The floor was shotblasted using dust enclosed machinery and a scratch levelling coat was applied to level out the undulations in the floor. Q Flooring’s installation team then applied the Flowcrete Terrosso resin system at 4mm to the whole sales area. The finished floor was handed back fully cured by 8am Friday as per the programme. This was critical as any delays would have a major impact on following trades and potentially jeopardise the store re-opening. Q Flooring Systems delivered the new floor as promised, all shelving, refrigeration and checkouts were then reinstated as per the programme and the store re-launched on time.
