Fort Vale Engineering is world leader in the precision manufacture of the valves and fittings for transportation in the Road Tanker and Tank Container Industries.
For 30 years the company operated from 2 sites in Nelson but to keep up with growing demand and to rationalise production it has relocated its entire operation to a new state-of-the-art manufacturing at Simonstone. The new factory is purpose-built and after a demanding tender process Q Flooring Systems Ltd were appointed as the flooring contractor to install the epoxy resin across the factory floor.
Several considerations had to be taken into account before floor coverings were specified. It was imperative that any system had to take the point loading of heavy machinery and fork lift truck traffic. Also any system had to withstand heavy industrial use, be hard wearing, slip resistant durable and easy to clean. Truck routes and work areas had to be defined with bold yellow demarcation lines. As a result Q Flooring Systems chose a range of Remmers epoxy flooring systems in different areas to meet these demands. The management team at Fort Vale went to great lengths in planning to ensure minimum disruption to production. It was essential that other trades had full access to the floor during installation on the new floor, the fact that the resins used were water based, solvent free and rapid curing made this possible.
Fort Vale’s Engineering Director, Mr David Smith commented: The new floor is without doubt one of the focal points in our new factory. Q Flooring Systems Ltd were excellent in their understanding of our needs, particularly in relation to working with us to ensure that its installation did not disrupt other trades during our move. They installed the floor very efficiently and with minimum fuss.
